Tale of the Tune:
I’ve wanted to write a ballad for a long time, but I was having a very difficult time coming up with fitting lyrics.

Somehow or another, these chords/lyrics popped into my head one evening while I was fiddling around with the guitar.

This song is about a man and a woman who are in a relationship, but they both realize that it’s not really going anywhere long-term. They come to this realization together, so it’s not necessarily a sad song, but I decided that it was perfect as a ballad because breaking up is hard to do.

Happy Independence Day! This song is about the Fourth of July. The “booms” of the chorus represent the fireworks, the marching band and finally, the sound barrier, broken by an F-16 during an airshow. Just some memories I have from a lifetime of Independence Day celebrations.

I saw a man and a woman embracing at a train station once. The woman was crying and the man looked shocked. The woman got on the train, but the man stayed on the platform. I wrote this song based on of that encounter. I really have no idea what happened or why the woman was crying, but the moment stuck with me, so I decided to write this song…it is from the guy’s perspective.

This song originated this past winter as my wife and I were dancing in the kitchen before heading out to an event. We were wearing similar shoes so the chorus of this song was written.

I then recalled that this one time at college, there was a girl in my freshman week class who was wearing the exact pair of shoes that I had. They were good shoes.

Tale of the Tune:
This song is based on actual events – I was finishing up my morning yoga practice the other day when blammy, I was hit with an immense feeling of joy.

In that moment, felt the undeniable feeling that we are all connected via the energy of life. You may call it vibrations, vibes, feelings, flow, or juju, but for this song, we’re calling it “waves”. I was going to call the song “vibrations”, but that is much more difficult to sing while producing overtones, which is what I was trying to do with the chorus.
