First Take Friday - Episode 56 Don't Scream Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This tune is the 7th song in the Adventures of Cowboy Dan; Santa Fe Sunset In last week’s episode, we found out that Big Bad Jim was a vampire. Naturally, the townsfolk had to figure out how to fend off a vampire, so that’s what this tune is about. Happy Halloween! Thanks for watching/listening. JB

First Take Friday - Episode 55 The night the devil came to Santa Fe Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This tune is the 6th song in the Western Set, which I think I’m going to call the Adventures of Cowboy Dan; Santa Fe Sunset This is the song in which the plot thickens. The true identity of Big Bad Jim, introduced in FTF #52, is revealed. He is a vampire. Cowboy Dan will have a lot of work to do in the next four episodes. Again, this is all fiction. I’m deeply conflicted about this song. I believe in God. Writing a song of this title/topic gave me some hesitation. However, it is the set-up for an epic showdown of good and evil. I don’t want to give anything away, but the good guys always win when they have the power of God on their side! Thanks for watching/listening. JB First Take Friday - Episode 54 BANG! Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This tune is the 5th song in the Western Set. If you had a 20,000-acre ranch, and you were constantly rotating cowboys to shepherd your cattle, you would need a signal to let everyone know where you were day in and day out so that you and the herd could be found. That is what this song is about. A locator beacon every morning at 8am. Of course this method could attract both friends and foes, but at least the foes would know that whoever was doing the shooting certainly was armed. Next week Cowboy Dan and Big Bad Jim will meet for the first time. Stay tuned. First Take Friday - Episode 53.5 Comedy Suplex Podcart (theme song) Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: My friend PeachMachine and DirtyRonMcDonald have a podcast called the Comedy Suplex Podcast….well, actually it is called the Comedy Suplex Podcart, but whatever. It’s a podcast. Peach has wanted a theme song for their show, but I haven’t had time to write one…until now. In honor of the One Year Anniversary of the First Take Friday series, I put this little jingle together. Check out their podcast: https://comedysuplex.xyz/ Thanks! JB First Take Friday - Episode 53 Cowboy Dan, Part One Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This tune is the 4th song in the Western set. The hero in our story is Cowboy Dan. His father was a Navajo and his mother was a puritan woman from Boston. They raised Cowboy Dan out in Navajo nation, which spans about 20,000 acres of Arizona and New Mexico. Cowboy Dan is one of the best human’s you’ll never meet. He was raised with street smarts from his mom and a loving heart & warrior spirit from his dad. When the US Civil War broke out, Cowboy Dan wanted peace for the nation as he had seen countless skirmishes while he was growing up. This idea of peace festered in him to the point that he decided to act on behalf of the US Government as a Peace Consultant. He was well respected and was paid handsomely for his efforts. When he returned to New Mexico, after the war, he decided to buy some land both as a place to raise cattle and as a way to retrieve some of the Navajo land that was stolen by the US Government. I wish you could have met him when he was alive. He was quite the fellow. (This is all fiction, by the way) Next week, I’ll tell you a little about the gates on the ranch (Hint: there are none). Hope you enjoy! Cheers! |
