First Take Friday - Episode 48 You are Lovely Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This song was inspired by a friend of mine and I wrote song with my kids in mind. I wrote it from the perspective of them being older kids, but it could pertain to any time in their lives given the current state of the world. We are all constantly told that we have to fit in from a very young age. Don't! Be you!! We are all unique and special in different ways. Use your talents. Be yourself. Give zero F*cks about what anyone else thinks of you. I recently read a book called "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" by Mark Manson. To sum it up, we should care about some things, of course, but never about what people think of you aside from the ones you give a fvek about. Never try to fit into anyone's box. Build your own box! For the best results make it a box that has a place outside, where you can think. LOL! I couldn't resist. LET YOUR FREAK FLAG FLY!

First Take Friday - Episode 47 My Love Grows Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This one is about my wife. I was sitting in my garden one day last week talking to my plants and then I was inspired to write this song. It's a love song. FIRST TAKE FRIDAY - Episode 46 BURNT Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune I burnt my mouth about a month ago while I was drinking coffee and at the time I came up with the first verse. Last week I completed most of it and I added the chorus just before I recorded it. Burnt Breakfast Blues should have been the title of this one, but BURNT seemed like a better option and now I don’t have time to change it, so BURNT it is. First Take Friday - Episode 45 Her name was Kathryn Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune I had a super busy week with work, so I didn’t have time to write a new tune for the 45th episode of the First Take Friday Series. Thankfully I still have a few old songs in the archives that I keep on hand for such an occasion. I wrote this tune way back in 2004-ish. Long before I met my wife. I met a girl at a party one night way back then and she inspired me to write this song about her. First Take Friday - Episode 44 Pirate Booty Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I was sitting on my front porch when I wrote this song. It was a beautiful July evening. Almost cool enough for a long sleeve shirt. Instead of grabbing a warmer shirt I grabbed my guitar and this tune is the result. Who doesn’t love a good story? |
