First Take Friday - Episode 39 We the People Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I’ve always enjoyed the 4th of July. In Webster Groves where I grew up, it is a magical day. There is a huge parade, with an accompanying carnival and two whole nights of fireworks! But as the lyrics state, a lot of people died for all of us in the USA to enjoy the freedom that we have from the Native Americans to our current military and police personnel (not to mention the British, French and a few Canadians). So, this song is essentially a tribute to America!

First Take Friday - Episode 38 Float Trip Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This one is about a float trip, hence the name of the song. If you've never been on a float trip. You are missing out on one of life's little pleasures. I wrote the melody to this song in the summer of 2015 after a trip to the Huzzah River...one of my favorite Missouri Rivers. I wrote the verses and arranged this tune this week. I thought it would be easy, writing about a float trip, that is, but fitting the words and musical style together was tough. I’m pleased with the outcome, and think it’s on the right track. Obviously it needs some editing, but I ran out of time to practice, and the show must go on. Hence the reason its called “First Take Friday”. On a side note, I can’t believe this is episode 38 already. I’m so glad I started this project! Thank you for checking it out. Cheers! First Take Friday - Episode 37 Canoefoot Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I wrote this song for my dad for Father's Day (2018). My dad's childhood nickname is Canoefoot because he wears a size 15 shoe. These are some of the memories that I have of him when I was a kid...that I could include in a song (rhyming is hard sometimes). First Take Friday - Episode 36 Everyday Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I wrote this song about my amazing wife. She is the bomb.com EVERYDAY! I started this tune as a completely different song. Maybe I'll share that with you all in a few weeks. Maybe not. I also thought about dropping the E string to a D, which sounded pretty cool and gave it some sweet bass, but I liked the melody with the G as the root. Hope you enjoy the weekend! First Take Friday - Episode 35 Summertime Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This song is about summer. My favorite season. I like fall a lot, but summer is better. Warm weather. Beaches. Mountains. Pools. Just being outside all the time. Summertime is where it is. |
