It's hard to say without smiling.
Keep living and loving into the new year.
All at once the sky is clear.
When you start the day
And say
Buon Giorno!
May the veil of fear be lifted from us all. Do that thing you've always wanted to do, today!
Tomorrow is not a guarantee.
Peace and love,
JB

Inside Your Mind
First Take Friday #126

Tale of the Tune
I wrote this song back in November of ‘22. I’ve been stewing over it periodically since then. Initially, I thought it would be good as a metal song, but I also tried it with a little reggae vibe, and then straight jazz. But alas, I need to move on. It’s never going to be perfect, and that’s the whole point of First Take Fridays. I finally hit record and this is it. Of course it could be better, but now I can move on to another set of chords. This song is obviously about too much time on the phone/computer/etc. Traveling through time while losing it.

Thank you for checking it out.

Snow Angels
Written by Jonathan Brader

Tale of the Tune:
The last time I recall a snow on Christmas is when I was around 10 years old. It actually snowed in Lexington, where we were celebrating Christmas with Family. The snow was on the ground from there to St. Louis. Aside from that, and a few Ohio lake effect snows in my early 20s, there hasn't been any precipitation on Christmas Day in the Lou.
So, if it snows on Christmas this year, meet me at the sledding hill.
Enjoy,
JB

Long-Legged Lady
Written by Jonathan Brader

Tale of the Tune:
Came up with the title of this tune a few years ago with family when someone said, "she's a long-legged lady". At that moment, this song was born, but it didn't receive much attention aside from a short note in my songwriting book.

Fast-forward to November 2022 and voila.

Enjoy,

Tale of the Tune
This one is a love song.
Have you ever been out with your SO, shopping on a never-ending journey, going from store to store? Well, that's what this song is about. There's a million things I'd rather do.
Thanks for checking it out.

Tale of the Tune
I was walking home from a poker game, looking at the moon, when I saw something in the sky that gave me a start. It was shining bright, doing strange things. Called the police, they couldn't figure it out either. All of the sudden, it blasted off and ascended out of site. The craft left limes and slime on the street. It was weird.
Thanks for checking it out. Keep you eyes on the sky!

Vampire Falls
Written by Jonathan Brader

Tale of the Tune
After being saved from death by Alligator Ali, Big Bad Jim was a bit discombobulated, as one would be after such a harrowing experience. Thankfully, aside from being a vampire, Alligator Ali was quite a lovely lady and a former nurse. She took Jim under her wing and showed him how to live as vampire. Ali lived in a cave that had a series of waterfalls inside and outside.

Due to the stories from locals about hearing and seeing very strange things near the cave and falls, the location was named Vampire Falls.  The falls was near Lake Ponchartrain.

Big Bad Jim, after a few years of living with Alligator Ali and evading capture/death during the U.S. Civil War, headed west and wound up in New Mexico where he met Cowboy Dan, Esparelda and the gang.  The rest as they say is history.

Thank you for checking it out,
JB

Tale of the Tune:
When Big Bad Jim went swimming in Lake Ponchartrain on Halloween Night, he was attacked by an Alligator. Hanging on for dear life, he was saved by a local legend. Living in a nearby cave that locals called, Vampire Falls, the woman, Alligator Ali, saved Big Bad Jim's life but in doing so, she cursed him for eternity. Alligator Ali has a vicious bite, hence the name.

Tale of the Tune:
In this here tale, Big Bad Jim woke up on the side of Lake Ponchartrain, feeling awful.

He thinks he is just super hungover. Little does he know that he is is now a vampire.
He'll find out soon enough.

The Turn
Written by Jonathan Brader

Tale of the Tune
This song is a first hand account of when Big Bad Jim was turned into a vampire. Unlike the movies, there is usually not a long seduction by the turning vampire. Like humans eating a meal, they are trying to fill a hunger....to quench a thirst. That's exactly what happened to Big Bad Jim. Thank you for checking it out. - JB
