Tale of the Tune:
This one is about a float trip, hence the name of the song.
If you've never been on a float trip. You are missing out on one of life's little pleasures.
 
I wrote the melody to this song in the summer of 2015 after a trip to the Huzzah River...one of my favorite Missouri Rivers.
 
I wrote the verses and arranged this tune this week.  I thought it would be easy, writing about a float trip, that is, but fitting the words and musical style together was tough.

I’m pleased with the outcome, and think it’s on the right track. Obviously it needs some editing, but I ran out of time to practice, and the show must go on. Hence the reason its called “First Take Friday”.
