First Take Friday - Episode #84 Feelin’ So Fly Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I wrote this song as I was flying on a plane last week. It was a really unique and fun flight, so I pulled out the old songbook and jotted down these lyrics. I was hoping my wife could have been there to experience the flight with me. First Take Friday - Episode #83 Underneath the Sheets Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: It’s been a busy week, so this one is totally improvised. It has some decent qualities, but definitely needs some work before it is ever put on an album. Either way, I appreciate you checking it out. JB First Take Friday - Episode #82 Summa Summatime Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: Summer is my favorite season. This song is about summertime. Or Summa Summatime, as it were. JB First Take Friday - Episode #81 Lonely Heart Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This song is written from the perspective of a person with a Lonely Heart, obviously. I wrote the chorus to this song a few years ago. The rest of it was written last night and tonight (4.18.19). I actually just finished writing the bridge when I recorded it, as you can see at the beginning of the video. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any more time to practice it, so I had to hit “record” and roll with what you hear here, hence the reason it’s called First Take Friday. Time is of the essence. Every week, I write a song and record it in only one take. There will be minimal, if any, editing (usually just the front and back ends of the video). Why? First and foremost, I want to share the gifts that God has given me. After that, I’ve always wanted to see a band start a song and take it to the studio. Most often as music fans, we hear the finished product and then if we’re lucky, way after the song was written, we hear the tale of the tune and what the original sounded like. I thought it would be cool to start with the foundation. First Take Friday - Episode #80 I am the Monster Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I wrote this one morning after a sleepless night. At the time, I was writing it from the perspective of a child who creates a world of monsters via his/her imagination resulting in a worrisome night of hiding under the covers. Being too scared to sleep - too scared to get out of bed. It was only last night, as I was editing the video, that I realized that I am the monster in my own life. You are the monster in yours. This song goes deep and apparently it came from somewhere deep inside my subconscious. I love writing music! Thank you for checking it out. JB First Take Friday - Episode #78 The World is Ours Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I’ve been missing warm weather, so I wrote this tune after a spell of nice weather in St. Louis. It’s pretty self-explanatory after that. Boy meets Girl on Monday. Boy and Girl have a great time together throughout the week. On Saturday, they dance. Thank you for checking it out. JB First Take Friday - Episode #77 Sleepwalkin’ Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I wrote this song on an airplane. I was exhausted. Fight Club-Edward Norton-Exhausted. Have you ever been that tired? It seems to be a constant state for me at the moment. I’ll say “hello” to Tyler and Little-Bo-Peep for you. JB First Take Friday - Episode #76 Rockin' My World Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: This song is about my wife. I’ve had the chords in mind for a while, but I came up with the bass line last night and then I put the lyrics on top, but I couldn’t find the chorus. We got the kids to bed and then all of the sudden the chorus started flowing. It’s different. Almost sounds like it should be part of a different song, but that’s kind of what I like about it. Enjoy! JB First Take Friday - Episode #75 Lady of the Sea Written by Jonathan Brader Tale of the Tune: I’m tired of winter, so I picked up my pen and this song came out. It is about a sailor who has a recurring dream about a woman who guides him to port on every voyage that he makes. The woman is beautiful, captivating, all encompassing yet at the same time, positively elusive. It is inspired by the reggae beats of Jamaica and the ocean, obviously. Hope you enjoy it.
